about

I wrote this song for me as a reminder and declaration of a divide within myself. I've talked about denial on this album, and this song is about a transformation that I felt occurring within myself but didn't like. I remembered, when I was younger, actively seeking new experiences so I could stimulate emotions and feelings of all varieties, including the uncomfortable ones like confusion, sadness and anger. You could say that I craved catharsis. More recently, I'd noticed a growing disinterest and impatience with these sorts of mental and emotional exercises. I also felt a general lack of control within my own life.

This song was my way to try and remind myself about how open to potentially painful experiences I once was and how grotesque a thing it truly is to grow old, comfortable and complacent.

lyrics

I sleep until my bones break.
Siberia exists. I felt it on your fingers.

This is worse than denial.

You touch me like hammer's fall.
I dream to not exist. I hate
what's inside me.

I own a mirror, but I can't use it
like you.

I see jackals where love should be.
I see emotion where eyes should be.
I don't know how you laugh.
I don't know how you laugh.

Nothing is wrong.
I don't know how you laugh.
Nothing is wrong.
Nothing is right or wrong.

This is worse than denial.

This is "nothing is wrong."
This is "nothing is right or wrong."

Forget my emotions.
I'll go through the motions.
You'll forget my emotions.
I'll go through the motions.
